You Are My Sunshine

You are my sunshine,
my only sunshine
You make me happy
when skies are gray...

This song immediately came to mind when I saw these shoes! I was even discreetly humming the tune while I was trying them on and I can imagine myself skipping gaily if only I was alone. Hahaha. I felt happier just looking at them, so I told myself, "I must have these no matter what!" Ofcourse, myself cannot argue because in matters like this no one dares to get in my way, plus I hold the magic plastic card anyway. By the way, I am NOT (yet) a shopaholic. They are actually a good buy, considering they are comfortable, cute and inexpensive. I'd rather not say "cheap" because it is rude to call someone or something that. Am I being too defensive? Ok, I just wanted to make that clear, not a shopaholic. :-P

Put Me Under A Spell

Sleep, sleep, sleep... when will you grant me my wish of a long and peaceful slumber? I've counted sheeps, forward and backwards. Drank milk though it makes me sick. Tried different "calming" teas, candles and scents. Listened to mellow songs and instrumentals. Took hot and cold showers, they don't really make a difference. If there's anyone out there who could cast a spell... Please, please, please put me under a spell and bring me to dreamland....

Blind, Mute and Deaf

We were in the office, with nothing much to do (in short, we were bored), when suddenly one colleague gave an exasperated sigh. I asked, "Why? What's wrong?" He told me that his PC's speaker finally gave up and died and his last hope for entertainment is gone. Hahaha. We made jokes about what a pitiful state his PC is in, with the screen and speaker problems. Then I remembered the song Bulag, Pipi at Bingi by Philippine folk singer, Freddie Aguilar who is more famously known for the song "Anak". It's been a long time since I heard this song and I did not really know the lyrics so I decided to look for it. In doing so, I came across this blog "Story Behind Your Favorite Song" (http://favesongdiary.blogspot.com/2009/08/bulag-pipi-at-bingi-freddie-aguilar.html), I think it's a nice piece to read, considering the writer has added some personal touch with her stories and an English translation of the song was provided. :)

Imperfectly Whole

Another year over, another year ahead. Last year was a very difficult year, not only because of the economic crisis and career setbacks that seemed to affect almost everyone, but because it has been the most trying year for me, personally. So many things happened, most of them unexpected and painful.

Even if you are no longer here...

Today is my father's 12th death anniversary. He died of emphysema and he was just 47. He was a smoker since young and the doctors said this was the major contributing factor to his ailment. It's been 12 years but his memory is still fresh in my mind.

For months now...

For months now, I have been feeling tired… not that I have been working myself to death… although sometimes I do, but not really lately. Most of the time, I would sit all day in the office, with nothing much to do except trying to find things to do or to pass the time until it’s time to go home. At home… I cook, I clean, I wash… nothing much. There are some things to do, but either they can wait or I am just too lazy to attend to them.

The Rose

For those who have loved and lost,
For those who felt joy and then sadness,
For those who were whole and now broken,
For those who are looking for love and hope.
May it help you move on until you find love anew,
May it give you comfort in your pain and loneliness,
May it give you the strength to become whole again,
May it give you hope and fill your hearts with love...

This Too Shall Pass

When we are going through something very difficult,
When we are faced with trials which seem to be insurmountable,
When we have to travel a long and sad journey,
When we only see road blocks everywhere we turn,
When we have done everything we could and still it's not enough,
When we lose the one we thought we could never live without,
When we are at our lowest, loneliest and weakest,
When we are abandoned, rejected, forsakened and unloved,
When there seems to be no end to our pain and sufferings,
When we feel like life is nothing but a constant struggle,
Let us always remember, this too shall pass...

My Horoscope (16-17 July)

16-JULY-09

DAILY HOROSCOPE
Chances are good that no matter what delays and obstacles you face, Capricorn, you will find a way to squeeze some fun out of the day. Even if it is not until the evening, there is an aura of friendship and cheerfulness that overcomes the weight of the responsibility you are dealing with. In other words, there is serious business that you will be dealing with, but your persistent and practical nature will allow you to take it in stride. There will probably be a surprising conversation with someone you care about today.

Perhaps Love

One of my favorite love songs, with a very special meaning to me...

The lyrics are exactly those that one would feel from the heart, whether they are in-love or broken-hearted or in the process of healing...

My Horoscope (03-July-09)

QUICKIE:
Have you lost some of your idealism? People are essentially good -- remember that.

OVERVIEW:
Sometimes you have to act like a hero -- pushing forward despite despair. Today, you feel certain that things aren't going to work out, but if you persevere, you can break the cycle and succeed!

My Horoscope (28-June-2009)

Daily Horoscope:
Today should bring an end to the political or power struggle you've been dealing with Capricorn. Some of you have faced work related issues that take focus away from your love life, while others have had to deal with love-life issues that are distracting to business. Whichever group you belong to, balance is at hand, and decisions are about to be made that will let you have your cake and eat it too. Matters concerning travel may become important before the end of the day.

The Storm Within

Mark 4:35-41
Jesus Calms the Storm

That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"

My Horoscope (17 June 2009)

QUICKIE:
Looking back into your family history will reveal new insight into your future.

OVERVIEW:

You should get a sign of some kind pointing you backward in time -- maybe pretty far back! You may want to investigate your heritage to see if you can come up with anything interesting.

Hmmm... I wonder what it means... Which part of my heritage shows my future? How far can I possibly go back in time with my "investigation"? Will I even find something there????

My Horoscope (16 June 2009)

QUICKIE:
You have responsibilities, and you take them (but not yourself) seriously.

OVERVIEW:

You've got to choose between your personal life and your career (however you define that term) today, but fortunately it's not a permanent situation. Expect disappointment from someone.

The Heart

How many mistakes does it take, before it learns?

How many heartaches can it withstand, before it crumbles?

How many times can it be broken, before it finally stops loving?

My Horoscope (14 April 2009)

QUICKIE
Few things are more exciting than gossip, but it can dangerous too. Keep secrets.

OVERVIEW
You're not racing, but it feels as if you're winning anyway -- maybe you're competing work at a prodigious rate or maybe you're finding your love life taking on a weird kind of life of its own.

My Horoscope 13 April 2009

I usually don't read horoscopes, not that I don't believe there's any truth to them, but most of the time they just do not seem to apply to me, or to what's really happening in my life. So I don't bother.

God Bless The Broken Road

Came across this beautiful song by Rascal Flatts... I love the melody and most of all the message.

In our lives we go through trials and pain that we sometimes tend to question life or even God. It sounds cliche, but it is true, sometimes these things happen for us to get to where we are really meant to be. Looking back, we realize that God really blessed the broken road that led us to the right path.

Locked Up!

Last Friday, I accidentally locked myself up at home because I forgot my house keys in my bedroom which I already locked. It wouldn't have been a problem if only I didn't have to go to the office that day, at that specific time - we have an important meeting. I couldn't get out of the house because the main door is locked with a heavy duty padlock, I couldn't unlock it because the keys are locked inside the bedroom and jumping out of the window is not really a sensible option when you live on the 11th floor.
